Ellie’s Fall Drinks

The hazelnut latte is a new addition to the fall lineup at Ellie’s. Combining rich hazelnut puree with steamed milk, espresso,housemade raw vanilla syrup and dashed with spiced sea salt, this is a ‘hug-in-a-cup’ drink that lures you in and you’ll never want to leave the warm embrace of autumn spices. The sea salt topping is an unexpected garnish, lightly coating your palate and enhances the espresso and the hazelnut flavor.
Cranberry-lime soda makes an appearance this fall. We partnered up with Sam Roids, the lead bartender at Gracie’s to come up with this recipe. Cranberries are simmered with spices, sugar and a touch of vinegar to make a shrub, a very flavorful and complex syrup that has a wonderful flavor. This is then infused with rooibos tea and lime juice before being topped off with sparkling water. The resulting drink has a gorgeous fuschia-pink color and a refreshing flavor that goes perfectly with any of our lunch sandwiches.
Lastly on the list, Jaswell cider makes its return this year. Jaswell is a fourth generation apple farm in Smithfield, Rhode Island, producing some of the most fine apple ciders in the region. Their cider is fresh and delicious, with no added sugar, preservatives or flavorings, it’s the real deal. We are offering this season hot and iced classic cider, as an Apple Pie a la mode, made with steamed soy milk, vanilla syrup, jaswell apple cider and a splash of chai.
